Nike’s We Run series for 2012 got underway over the weekend with an event in the Czech capital.
More than 6,500 runners participated in Nike We Run Prague on Saturday, Sept. 1. Cheered on by athletic icon Carl Lewis and London Javelin gold-medalist Bara Spotakova, runners completed the 10K distance through the historic center of one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.
“It was a very special mission to motivate more than 6,000 people together with the legendary Carl Lewis. I was happy to see so many runners and their enthusiasm,” said Spotakova of the experience.
Special features of the race this year included a Nike Women’s zone offering special services for runners, a finish line after-party and digital activations enabling participants to make their running statement and share their experience before, during and after the race. Runners can check out their results, see the detailed graphics of the race and compare it with others in a special Facebook application.
Prague was the first city to kick off the Nike We Run 2012 series, enabling and connecting 395,500 runners in 34 cities around the world.
