The Air Jordan 1 ‘Rookie of the Year’ is an upcoming release which is inspired by what Michael Jordan wore during his Rookie of the Year acceptance speech back in 1985.
During Michael Jordan’s rookie year he averaged 28.2 points per game which lead the Chicago Bulls a playoff spot, the first in four years. On April 30th, 1985, Michael Jordan accepted the NBA Rookie of the Year award.
This Air Jordan 1 that celebrates the occasion comes dressed in a Gold Harvest and Black color combination. This unique color theme pays tribute to the Brown shirt MJ wore during his acceptance speech. Using White leather on the base while Wheat is applied to the overlays. Following we have Black detailing on the tongue label, ankle collar, Nike Swoosh logo and outsole. Completing the look we have a hidden message from Michael Jordan on the inside of the ankle collar.
The message reads on one side: “This award is nice, but I just feel it is very important for each individual to go out and contribute to his team.” While the other side features “1984-85 R.OY. 2313 Points 28.2 PPG.”
