Jordan Brand created the Air Jordan 1 “UNC” PE specifically for the University of North Carolina players.
Michael Jordan’s roots will always be tied to North Carolina. He was raised in North Carolina and played for the University of North Carolina. We have seen shoes debut throughout the years, representing his alma mater. However, there have been multiple pairs exclusive to players of UNC. One silhouette that the brand continues to revisit is the Air Jordan 1. For 2023, we have a fresh pair made for the women’s basketball team, which takes on a classic colorway.
The color blocking and colors used on this Air Jordan 1 resemble the 1985 “UNC,” aka “Dark Powder Blue” Air Jordan 1 that was last released in 2015. Constructed with the usual leather throughout and mesh tongues. White runs across the base with University Blue on the overlays, Swoosh logos, around the heels, and rubber outsole. On the left tongue, we have Nike Air, and the right features the UNC logo. Other details include UNC Blue on the liners and a White midsole.
Sadly, the Air Jordan 1 “UNC” PE won’t be available at retailers. However, they are exclusive to the university’s women’s basketball team members. Like always, there is a chance that pairs could get out and be available on third-party websites. But even then, you will pay a lot of money for a pair.
