Hugo’s Air Jordan 3 “Doernbecher” Releasing December 2023

For the Holiday 2023 season, Jordan Brand, with the help of Hugo “Juice” Covarrubias Molina and the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, will release the Air Jordan 3 “Doernbecher XIX”. This marks the second Air Jordan 3 to release part of the series.

Nike officially unveiled the Doernbecher Freestyle XIX collection in October 2023, featuring six shoes designed by patients from the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Jordan Brand has one pair as part of the 2023 collection: the Air Jordan 3 designed by 14-year-old Hugo “Juice” Covarrubias Molina.

As mentioned, this marks the second “Doernbecher” Air Jordan 3 to be released. The original pair was launched in 2010 and designed by Cole Johanson. Jordan Brand and Doernbecher would eventually retro the pair in 2013.

The colors for the 2023 Air Jordan 3 are inspired by Hugo’s favorite team, the Seattle Seahawks. Highlighted in Navy and Green, with Navy across the leather base and Green slime dripping onto the base from the tongue and ankle. The tongue comes in the same shade of Green with a glitter-like effect. Juice’s love for jewelry inspires the 23-carat gold plated hang-tag of his initials. More personal branding lands on the heels, which displays “JH” and “Juice” and a translucent Jumpman. Other details include glow-in-the-dark detailing and a translucent outsole with the message “It’s okay to be different.”
