Jordan Brand will release the Air Jordan 38 ‘Center Star’ during September, a women’s exclusive, which expands on its women’s performance line. The shoes come highlighted in Orange that represents the WNBA logo.
The model will use X-Plate technology, inspired by Michael Jordan’s footwork on the court. Connecting to the Air Jordan 8, the X-Plate is a nod to the straps on the model. As for the upper of the Air Jordan 38, it comes constructed with backless embroidery and acts as a canvas, highlighting Michael Jordan’s performance in the 1993 championship series. Each pair is equipped with a radial herringbone traction pattern and full-length Zoom Strobel unit.
One of the standout features is the model is the most sustainably made Air Jordan signature shoe in Jordan Brand history, made of at least 20 percent recycled material by weight.
Designed to serve intricate footwork, the shoe is constructed low to the ground to provide players with a better sense of court feel during pivots, cuts, and defensive slides. During sharp movements, the new X-Plate, which mimics the straps on the Air Jordan 8, keeps the foot over the footbed. The foot is supported and has a low center of gravity, allowing for better control and stability.
Additionally, the X-Plate enhances the shoe’s overall responsiveness, enabling quicker movements and reaction times. For the right amount of responsive cushioning, a radial herringbone traction pattern is combined with a full-length Zoom Strobel unit and full-length Cushlon 3.0 foam. The outrigger helps secure the foot for lateral movements. From the Flight Plate to the Eclipse Plate to the IsoPlate, the X-Plate is another Jordan-exclusive plate technology development.
