The Air Jordan 5 was originally released in 1990, and Jordan Brand will celebrate its 35th Anniversary in 2025. So far, we have a few classic pairs returning and one with a twist. However, the list continues to build. Another classic, the “Fire Red” Air Jordan 5 Black Tongue, will be released in Fall 2025.
This marks the third original Jordan 5 to return in 2025. Dropping with the “Fire Red,” we have the “Grape” and “Black Metallic Reimagined.”
Fire Red 5s Through the Years
As mentioned, the “Fire Red” is an original colorway released in 1990. There are two versions of the sneaker, one with a “Black Tongue” and the other known as the “Silver Tongue.” Although both are classics, many are bigger fans of the Black Tongue. We eventually saw this pair retro in 2006, and the last time the shoes landed at retailers was in 2013.
This Air Jordan 5 is dressed in a classic color scheme of White, Black, and Red. Going over the shoes, it features White leather throughout with the signature mesh netting on the tongues and panels. Highlighting the pair is Black across the tongues and the number 23 embroidered by the heels. For 2025, the signature Nike Air branding lands on the heels with Fire Red details throughout. Lastly, a translucent outsole completes the design.
