While we are in the midst of all the MLB All-Star festivities, sneakerheads and sports fan alike were surely in for a show during last nights Homerun Derby. While Yoenis Cespedes of the Oakland Athletics took home the crown, there was no shortage of long balls crushed inside of Citi Field. Renown sneaker customizer Mache has created yet another dope pair of custom kicks specially made for Pedro Alvarez of the Pittsburgh Pirates. In case his name sounds familiar, Alvarez also competed in last nights HR Derby but fell short of the second round with just six HR’s.
Using the ’88 Retro Air Jordan III as his base, Mache decks the classic retro silhouette in a full-on NY Mets-inspired colorway. The brazenly bold orange base accompanied by hints of royal blue and a reworked elephant print, the addition both Alvarez’s jersey number and this years All-Star logo drive home this ill tribute to the 2013 All-Star game in Queens,NY. Keep reading after the jump to check out a look at Maches latest creation and be sure to let us know where these rank amongst your favorite custom kicks from Mache.
