For the Winter holidays this year, Jordan Brand has decided to go a different route with the annual Air Jordan XI release (it’s been 2 years in a row now), opting to drop a new colorway instead of re-retroing a pair from the JB vault; that pair is the Air Jordan XI Retro “Gamma Blue”, also known as the “Laney” (due to the shoe featuring blue and yellow, the colors seen on the modern classic Air Jordan V “Laney”, which is also set to release later this year). Today, we bring you a look at this upcoming release.
The shoes feature the same all-black upper seen on the “Bred” and “Space Jam” XI’s, but instead of a white midsole, they sit atop a black midsole, giving the shoe a slick appearance. The bright yellow “23” on the heel tab and bright blue Jumpman on the upper pop on the all-black backdrop, helping to liven things up. The “Jumpman Jordan” tag on the tongue is also done in gamma blue and varsity maize, also adding to the unique look of these kicks. The sole of the shoes are an icy blue, with bright blue accents on the front and rear tread portions. Definitely a fresh take on the Air Jordan XI – one of the most iconic and beloved models in the Air Jordan pantheon – this shoe is one that people will either hate or love, often the sign of a great shoe.
