Air Jordan 11 “Concord” 1995

The Air Jordan 11 “Concord” 1995 was the first Jordan 11 to be released. With a release date of November 1, 1995, the retail price was $125. Tinker Hatfield designed the sneakers and was the first pair of Air Jordans to use patent leather. Upon its debut, the “Concord” was available in adult and grade school sizes.

To help market the sneakers, a commercial was released in November 1995, known as the “100-Foot Dunk.” Michael Jordan stars in the commercial where he dunks wearing the “Concord” Jordan 11. At the end, he looks down and is 100 feet off the ground, hence the name.

The Original “Concord” Air Jordan 11 was worn by Michael Jordan in 1995 and appeared on-foot in the NBA Playoff semi-finals.  As many know, the Chicago Bulls team colors consist of Red, White, and Black, and most players wore Black sneakers. MJ was fined for wearing the shoes since the “Concord” is Black and White and didn’t meet the dress code. Like the old days, he was fined $5,000 for each game. He would wear the sneakers for two more games and then switch.

Dressed in a White, Black, and Dark Concord color combination. The Air Jordan 11 was the first sneaker to have patent leather, which is done in Black on the “Concord” pair. The higher-cut patent leather makes the original unique compared to most of the retros. Also, the patent leather has peaks, which you can see on the toe box and around the side. A mixture of leather and mesh in White appears on the upper, with Black on the Jumpman, tongue branding, liner, and heel. As for materials used, it comes with Cordura ballistic nylon, a lightweight Phylon midsole, a full-length Air sole unit, and a carbon fiber mid-foot shank plate.

Nike Air branding adorns the insoles, and Jordan’s number 23 is stacked on the heel. The shoes also have a translucent outsole with Concord, a shade of Purple on the outsole pods.

Wearing the original 1995 “Concord” today is impossible unless you have the midsole reglued. Most pairs are separated from the upper and the sole. While not affecting wear, pairs will also have yellowing due to age, and the translucent outsole will become darker.
