Subscribers of Sneaker Freaker magazine will be treated to a small preview in their upcoming issue of the 3 collaborations Asics has in store for us. A Ronnie Fieg x Asics collaboration is nothing new (but always anticipated), but the collaborations with Boston shop Concepts and Chicago boutique St. Alfred are firsts. All three collabs utilize the uber-popular Gel Lyte III model as a canvas, and all three are certified bangers (no mash). Check out a small preview of each pair after the jump.
The Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel Lyte III “Flamingo” features a cream mesh and nubuck upper, accented with a pastel salmon and periwinkle blue, atop a white midsole with a light blue outsole. Sure to be a hit (see Ronnie’s last Asics collaboration, the wildly popular ECP pack) these shoes definitely have that Ronnie Fieg flavor, and are sure to be a hit.
The Concepts version, going by the name “Three Lies”, features a colorblocking scheme eerily reminiscent of the Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel Lyte III “Salmon Toe”, which was a ginormous (yes, I used that word) hit amongst sneakerheads in 2011. Although the photo makes it a bit hard to tell the exact colors used, it appears to be a navy blue and tan upper atop a white speckled midsole and a navy blue outsole. What do you think the “Three Lies” nickname represents? Could it be a typo, and the true inspiration was “True Lies”, the blockbuster smash staring Arnold Schwarzenegger and a MILF-esque Jamie Lee Curtis? Your guess is as good as mine, friend.
Last, we’ve got the collaboration with St. Alfred. Featuring what appears to be a soft blue upper atop a tan midsole, these continue the beach vibe seen in the Ronnie Fieg “Flamingo”, possibly going for a surf-and-turf motif with the blue representing the water and the tan representing sand. Or, maybe they’re just huge UNC fans. Who can be sure of these things, especially this early in the game?
While there isn’t much info available on either of these collaborations, keep it locked with your friends at Sneaker Files for more info as it hits, and check out some pics after the jump. Feeling these collabs? Which one’s your favorite/least favorite? Let us know in the comments below!
