A new movie from Laika called ‘The Boxtrolls’ is coming to theaters September 26th and Nike has joined forces with the film company to release a Roshe Run for the film.
The Boxtrolls x Nike Roshe Run is known as ‘Trollstrikes’ which was designed by none other than Tinker Hatfield. Immaculate detail went into the shoes which features a distressed leather upper, cobblestone-printed midsole, burlap overlays, iridescent sewer-green heel panels, cardboard tongue labels, cheese-print sockliners, dual twine laces, steampunk lace locks, distressed leather Swoosh, twine heel loop and a waffle-patterned outsole.
Each pair will also come with a laser cut custom box with gear shapes and the tagline from the movie
“Dare to be Square”. The tissue paper inside the box unfolds and is the “Cheesebridge Cheesecloth” newspaper. Boxtroll Bandages (screen-printed Dri-FIT Elite socks) and a custom, screen-printed burlap shoe bag complete the package.
You won’t be able to walk into a store and pick up The Boxtrolls x Nike Roshe Run, but you can try and buy them on eBay as the companies are giving proceeds to Adoption Exchange Association, a nonprofit child welfare organization committed to connecting children who wait in foster care with families looking to adopt. The bidding started September 24th (today) and ends October 3rd 2014 at 11:59 PM EST.
You can also win a pair by submitting an original cardboard artwork using the hashtag #theboxtrollsnikeshoecontest. Artwork should reflect the Victorian and steampunk world of The Boxtrolls. The contest started today, September 24th and ends October 3rd 2014. Good luck to everyone!
