CIVIC DUTY, a new line of sneakers made from Tyvek®, the same material used in those indestructible airmail envelopes. Each pair goes through a special wrinkling process that results to something that resembles crumpled paper, a texture never before seen on sneakers.
CIVIC DUTY, established in New Jersey in 2010, takes its inspiration from the lightweight, paper-like material — probably best known for its use in mail pouches and home building. The core collection, inspired by classic and casual silhouettes, features five designs that come in eight different colorways. Each pair features a premium Tyvek® upper with a rubber sole, and argyle strip detailing at the back. True to what sneakers should be, each pair is lightweight, comfortable, waterproof and durable.
Born out of the recession, the brand desires to give back to the community. Each year, the profits from one of the styles will go to a charity selected by the brand’s consumers. This year, the consumers chose the Common Ground Relief, an organization based in New Orleans’ Ninth Ward, as the recipient charity. – CIVC DUTY
