Recently, we showcased the ‘Black White’ and ‘Bruce Lee’ pairs, and now, we take a look at the third CLOT x Nike Cortez by Edison Chen. This time around, they will dress the shoes up in the classic ‘OG’ aka ‘Forrest Gump’ colorway.
This colorway is one of the more iconic when it comes to the Cortez. The model first launched in 1972 in the ‘OG’ colorway, which was worn by Tom Hanks in the film Forrest Gump. Throughout the years, we have seen retro releases of the colorway, and Clot will give them a unique twist with its ‘Clotez.’
Dressed in a White, Game Royal, and University Red color combination. As you can see, this Nike Cortez utilizes the classic ‘Forrest Gump’ color scheme. The 3-in-1 design can be worn as is or taken apart to become a sneaker and a slip-on reminiscent of a Kung Fu shoe. It comes equipped with a drawstring fastening system featuring a Yin Yang symbol and Chinese characters “功” and “夫” (Kung Fu)embroidered at the heel. Next, we have Yellow leather on the upper and Black on the Swoosh logos, with a serrated outsole. Lastly, each ‘Clotez’ will come with detachable insoles, which aids in comfort.

“The reason I favor the Cortez is because it’s very representative of the L.A. culture, especially street culture and also sports culture,” CLOT Founder and Creative Director Edison Chen shared his appreciation for the Nike Cortez in an earlier interview. “The Los Angeles Dodgers shoe, also in blue, white, red, is obviously a Cortez. It’s very L.A. You don’t have to write L.A., everybody just knows.”
