Concepts and Nike Sportswear will come together once again. One of the first collaborations by the Boston sneaker shop will be the Air Max 1 which will help celebrate its 35th Anniversary.
Currently, the inspiration for the Concepts x Nike Air Max 1 has yet to be announced, but there is a lot going on. While not confirmed, it’s possible that the pair is inspired by Jimi Hendrix.
This Nike Air Max 1 features a mixture of premium materials like denim, canvas, and fur. Next, both Purple and Green paisley bandana print lands on the mudguard and wraps the heel, while denim hits the panels and toe box. Red velvet adorns the tongues and laces and we have mismatched Swoosh logos. A unique print hits the collar while Concepts branding appears on the guitar pick hangtag, tongue, and insoles. Other details include distressed ‘NIKE’ branding on the heel and each pair comes with a unique box that has Concepts branding and daisies form the Swoosh logo.

Update (3/1): Concepts has announced that their Air Max 1 ‘Mellow’ collaboration will release on March 5th via Cncpts.com and March 12th on SNKRS.
This release celebrates the Air Max 1s 35th Anniversary and is inspired by the music festival scene of the late 60s.
“Nike has been a tremendous partner to Concepts. Together, our collaborative track record speaks for itself,” says Deon Point, Concepts Creative Director. “When we decided to work on the Air Max 1, a personal favorite, we wanted to fully honor the irreverent spirit of Nike from its origins in the ‘60s up to today.”
The collection and apparel are known as ‘Mellow.’ However, the first Air Max 1 is known as ‘Friday.’ The colorway includes patterned elements of bandanna, cowhide, and woven material panels. The former, a Concepts-exclusive, approximates the famous guitar straps of the era. Further details include a lateral striped Swoosh and a medial “flower power” Swoosh. The tongue label revives a classic ‘70s Nike logo and twists it with a Concepts “hippie” word mark. The design is completed by a custom footbed.
Two more colorways, which could be known as ’Saturday’ and ‘Sunday’ will release later via SNKRS and select retailers.
