Welcome to the 2007 1st Annual, Crucial Kicks 101, Hosted by Tbeck Promotions, Flipjays And The Wearhouse, The event where Chicago Sneakerhead’s come together and buy, sell or trade sneakers. The event included a sponsor from from Monster energy drink, and dope performances by Ivy League, Chris Capalano, Secret Society, Melvo Decaprio & The Boardroom, and up and coming Chicago artist, Jamalssmallz.
Tbeck, The promoter for the event, say’s, ” What I do is, take the initiative to get all the stores and get all the boutiques and get every person that comes to the event and make them feel like they are at home and it’s a hard work ethic but I believe that hard work pays off”
I asked, “what’s the low down on Crucial Kicks 101″
Tbeck says,” Crucial Kicks is the beginning, It’s like day one when you are stepping into a high school its your first day up and with that being said, PHLI, Leaders, Self Conscious, V-Dot, I’ve done events with all of them but what I am trying to do this time, is bring it to a different level”
Flipjays, The creator of the event say’s, “Crucial Kicks is trying to promote The Wearhouse as far as an, Urban Account, Life Style and Quick Strike store, where you can buy your Jordan’s, Air Force’s And other Nike products that are all authentic and legit.
“Also, The reason why we held the event here, In this particular part of town, which is close to a high school, Is because there’s a lot of kids out here that have been rocking fakes lately and we’re trying to get them to realize that, what they are wearing is hurting the sneaker game and let them know that “fake is not fresh” as you would call it’
I asked Flipjays on his perspective on the sneaker world in Chicago.
Flipjays says, ” Me being a big sample guy in the city of Chicago, Were trying to put our city as part of the 3 or major cities that get legit shoes, Hyperstrike, Quickstrike and hopefully pretty soon well open a Tier-Zero account in Chicago, but that’s in the works right now. We’re also just trying to have a blend of the different sneaker cultures in the area and hopefully our fellow sneakerhead’s from the East coast and West coast, get some of the feel of the sneaker shops here in the city as well as Life Style account’s and hopefully they come by and check us out as well as all the great mom and pop shops that sell legit Nike products here in the city of Chicago.
And if you get a chance stop by The Wearhouse in Chicago, They sell legit LS apparel and sneakers, Ecko, LRG, and many other clothing brands. They have a huge sneaker selection including Air Force 180’s to Air Jordan’s.
