Last year, Jordan Brand released a shoe that was definitely a divisive one among purists and new fans alike, the Jordan Son Of Mars. After not doing as well as the last hybrid/mash-up they’d released, the Jordan Spiz’ike, Team Jumpman decided to hit the books and figure out another game plan. Fast forward several months to June 22nd, 2013, the day Jordan Brand is set to release the oddly named Jordan Son Of Mars Low “Cement”. I say “oddly named” because while the shoe does share some of the same characteristics as the Jordan Son Of Mars (the elephant print from the Air Jordan III along the toebox and heel, the tongue from the Air Jordan V), it is very much its own shoe, utilizing an Air Jordan IV sole and heel, rather than the Air Jordan V/Air Jordan VI sole/heel combo seen on the Son of Mars.
June 22nd is a very important day for the Jordan Son Of Mars Low series, as it is the first decent colorway the shoe will be released in; as such, it is the first chance for us to see how well it will do when given a colorway people might actually want to buy. If the shoe does as poorly as the other Son of Mars Low releases this year, look for Jordan Brand to cut production on the Son Of Mars Low fairly quickly (which is what I am betting on).
Hit the jump for a detailed look at this upcoming sneaker and let us know, will you be lining up to cop this pair of kicks this weekend, available at select Jordan Brand retailers like Foot Locker? Or is this an instant pass, like Bill Wennington kicking it right back to Jordan after a pass down low?
