For The Sneaker Obsessed: ATC Miami Opens

June 12th, 2008 Air.Traffic.Control. (ATC), Miami’s premiere footwear consignment boutique, opens its doors to serve the sneaker obsessed. Boasting a premium inventory unheard of in Miami, ATC presents international and stateside releases, multiple size runs, and digging in the crate goods as far back as ’88.

The sleek, custom designed, 1,000 square foot shop, as sneak peeked in Team Ice Cream Jimmy Gorecki’s Day in the Life video, showcases something for every kick connoisseur’s palette. The glowing shelves offer up footwear finds from Jordan, Nike, and A Bathing Ape, Adidas, Reebok, Puma, New Balance, Converse, Fila among others while the industrial, rotating conveyor belt centerpiece display, draws you to the house gems.

ATC also complements its footwear selection with apparel must-haves by aNYthing, Recon, Subware, MIKE23, Rogue Status, Crooks & Castles, Hellz Bellz, Married To The Mob and Boroughbred. But for those that rather make dough than spend it, ATC welcomes all to join the Mile High Club. Understanding that taking pictures, setting up auctions, dealing with fraudulent payments, packaging and shipping shoes can be about as fun as jet lag, the Mile High Club is an 80/20 consignment program with one simple objective— getting members paid.

Determined to bring NYC cool to Miami’s heat, ex-music industry kids DJ Daai Lo and Mark Bolkovich refocused their love of music to a more committed audience and brought their sneaker obsessions to share down South.

  4. I was just at this store, they really do have every gem you could ever dream of! Dope write up, I couldn't explain it any better!! They're definetly bringing a new movement to miami. Finally a store that understands the sneaker consumer, and is bringing a breath of fresh air to all the sneaker heads here in miami. We seriously NEEDED this!!

Wrapping shoes in cellophane, i.e. Saran Wrap, ranks right next to a screen door installed on a submarine, and slightly below a 3rd class ticket on the Titanic. Plastic wrap shrinks folks. And when it shrinks, it adheres to whatever it touches. And then whatever it touches cannot breathe, dries out, and then becomes stuck to the cellophane. Which means after you carefully unwrap your shoes, the next thing happening will be your mother washing your mouth out with soap for every 4 letter word you scream that can be heard within a 5 block radius…"

    If you haven't noticed yet, most sneakers are made of leather. If you're never seen dried up leather, than you "wouldn't know about that"…"mah dude".

    Anyway, probably a moot point, those kicks are just collectors item. Never gonna touch the ground with a foot in them.

    Word? I didn't know flight club had a conveyor belt…or had the same aesthetic of atc. how does that infridge in trademark violations bob marley?

    That just goes to show how fresh this store is…With greatness there will always be haters…

    AS FOR EPS…you have way too much time on your hands. The shrink wrap really isn't that serious. I personally prefer it, in case I need to buy the display, I know it won't be dirty.

    I AM THE EPITAMY OF A SNEAKER CONNOISEUR. I HAVE A 650 SQFT. ROOM ENTIRELY DEDICATED TO MY SNEAKERS. I'VE TRAVELED ALL OVER THE WORLD IN MY LIFETIME. INCLUDING SNEAKER NIRVANAS SUCH AS UENO, & MONGKOK WHICH YOU'VE MOST LIKELY NEVER BEEN TO, SINCE YOU'RE NOT UP ON THE SHRINK WRAP. THIS HAS BEEN DONE FOR OVER 50 YEARS IN ASIA. IF THAT WERE REALLY THE CASE, WOULDN'T ALL OF THESE LEGENDARY SNEAKER STORES BE LOSING MONEY ON THEIR INVENTORY? I KNOW THE SHRINK WRAP MIGHT SEEM STRANGE TO A SNEAKER NOVICE.

    IF THIS IS TRUE, THEN WHY IS IT WHEN I'VE BOUGHT DISPLAY SHOES, WHEN I REMOVE THE PLASTIC THE SHOE IS CRISPY AND PRISTINE?   31. These are my dudes from NYC….Always takes a NY'er to get things poppin in another city. Flight Club is cool but the concept is not nearly as thought out as ATC.

    Since these dudes are friends of mine, I wish them nothing but success on their new venture. I am also sure that the service will be a lot better than what i've experienced at Flight Club.

    Yeap they got the idea from the bathing Ape Stores.

    The prices are a bit high, but where you will get hard to find sneaker anyway????
