Converse has just unveiled its first ever collaboration on the revolutionary Converse Chuck Taylor All Star 2 with American artist Futura.
Featuring original artwork by the legendary Brooklyn-based artist, the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star 2 Futura Collection takes the technological and comfort advances of Chuck 2 a step further with the addition of new veneering and Converse weatherized rubber, creating a sneaker that is truly ready for more. Designed for both function and fashion, the collection combines Futura’s iconic abstract art style with a weather-ready sneaker, apparel and accessories collection that’s built for the next generation of self-expression.
A pioneer in graffiti art, Futura’s work is synonymous with ingenuity, originality and the NYC downtown art scene of the early ’80s. His work over the last 30 years has transitioned from the street, to the subway, and today into galleries all around the world. The new collection features camo printed rip-stop underlay and Futura’s distinct graphic artwork on the sneaker’s upper, lace and midsole. Available in both hi-top and ox, the Chuck 2 Futura has water resistant full rubber uppers and reflective laces. The Chuck 2’s characteristic Nike Lunarlon sockliner received its own graphic treatment and each sneaker includes a second set of foot-beds with collectible art.
The Futura x Converse Chuck Taylor 2 will release starting Monday, February 1st, 2016 at select Converse retailers and online at Converse.com. Retail price is between $100-$110 while the apparel is priced at $35.
