In a new video from Nike Basketball, Nike Basketball Footwear Design Director Leo Chang provides additional insight into Kevin Durant’s upcoming Nike KD V.
As with past Durant signatures, the design team looked to put inspiration from throughout Durant’s life into the kicks. Taking cues from Durant’s high school years in D.C. to his lone collegiate season as a Texas Longhorn and NBA stops in both Seattle and OKC, the shoes see various graphics and subtle detailing as a nod to each.
Additionally, unlike past KD signature, the new KD V makes use of Max Air in the heel as well as a larger volume Zoom Air unit in the forefoot for more responsive cushioning. Also, a newly integrated stretch tongue allows for the Hyperfuse upper to conform to the foot like never before.
Stay tuned for additional looks at the KD V and be sure to check out Leo Chang’s video detailing the design here.
