Levi’s x New Balance 580 Pack Releasing December 2023

Levi’s and New Balance will come together to release the Levi’s x New Balance 580 Pack, which consists of two shoes inspired by mountain biking culture and its origin, Marin County.

In the early 1970s, a group of men and women began riding their “klunker” paperboy bicycles along the fire protection roads in the mountains of Marin County, California, marking the birth of mountain biking. Embracing the steep, rocky, and challenging terrain, these trailblazers chose Levi’s denim as their attire for its durability, protection, and timeless style. Building on this enduring relationship, Levi’s and New Balance have again joined forces to introduce a new footwear collaboration inspired by these pioneers.

The newest collection pays homage to mountain biking culture and Marin County by using durable Levi’s fabrics in the classic New Balance MT580 silhouette. Originally introduced in 1996, the newly reissued MT580 revives the iconic chunky silhouette with a TrailBar-equipped design. This updated look features a sleeker toe and lower collar height, combined with meticulous construction that accurately reproduces the original materials, compounds, and features.

The midsole of the New Balance 580 incorporates C-CAP in the forefoot and PU in the rearfoot, providing durable support and flexibility. It also has a RollBar stability post system to enhance support and control rear-foot movement. As a tribute to the 150th anniversary of Levi’s 501 jeans, the foundational template from which all other jeans have emerged, each shoe integrates Levi’s signature Shrink-To-Fit denim.

Drawing inspiration from the classic aesthetic and design elements of bicycles from that era, the collaboration is available in two distinctive color schemes. One version is Grey Blue, fashioned with nubuck uppers and showcasing overdyed Levi’s denim on the toe box and side panel. The other version is Beige Black, crafted with hairy suede uppers and featuring washed black Levi’s denim on the toe box and side panels. Each pair is presented in exclusive packaging that narrates the origins of mountain biking. Adorned with the iconic Levi’s Red Tab, the shoes are accompanied by three sets of laces.

For those who want to buy the Levi’s x New Balance 580 Pack, they will be released via Levi’s on December 6th, 2023. A second launch will take place at NewBalance.com on November 7th, 2023.
