Our 6th pick of the NBA Draft x Sneaker Files Best Draft Picks of All Time goes to Scottie Pippen. Pippen was born September 25th 1965 in Hamburg, Arkansas. In his College days, Pippen was only 6 feet 1 inch and walked on to try out for the University of Central Arkansas basketball team.
Over the course of four years, Scottie Pippen’s game became strong, and he eventually grew another 6 inches. By the end of his four year term, Pippen became a prospect for the 1987 NBA Draft.
Scottie Pippen was selected 5th overall in the 1987 NBA Draft by the Seattle Supersonics, but was immediately traded to the Chicago Bulls for Olden Polynice. Pippen came off the bench to support Brad Sellers and Charles Oakley at the forward position. Pippen has came a long way, as Jordan’s side kick to playing his own role, and being named one of the top 50 NBA players of all time.
Fast forward to October 1997, Scottie Pippen’s first signature shoe released called the Nike Air Pippen 1 which released in the Chicago Bulls color-way Black, Red, White. Featuring a full Air Max cushioning unit, “PIP” logo on the tongue, and the number 33 on the side. Late 2008 three color-ways will retro of the Nike Air Pippen 1.
