Over the weekend, teams from New York and California won the Nike-sponsored high school cross country national championships.
Under sunny skies and cool temperatures an estimated crowd of 5,000 saw Manlius (NY) and Arcadia (CA) take the club titles at the 9th Annual Nike Cross Nationals at Portland Meadows racetrack.
The Nike Cross Nationals featured two separate races, one for the girls and one for the boys. The Manlius girls won their 7th NXN title in 9 years with a score of 54 points. Carroll (TX) finished second with a score of 198 and Carmel (IN) finished third with a score of 209.
In the boys race, Arcadia took the team title with a score of 108. American Fork (UT) finished second with a score of 122 and North Spokane (WA) finished third with a score of 146.
Sarah Baxter (CA) finished first in the NXN girls race with a time of 19:17. Mary Cain (NY) took second with a time of 19:21 and Katie Knight (WA) finished third with a time of 19:32.Â
Sam Wharton (OH) finished first in the NXN boys race with a time of 17:06. Estevan Delarosa (CA) finished second with a time of 17:09 and Luis Martinez (NM) finished third with a time of 17:17.
