Earlier in the year, news dropped of a possible Nike Air Classic BW EM Pack, featuring 3 versions of the classic Nike Air Classic BW, updated with Engineered Mesh (something Nike has been doing recently with classic runners, like the Nike Air Max 180 EM “White/Ultramarine”). 2 of the pairs featured bright new colorways we’d never seen before, while the third pair featured the classic “Persian Violet” colorway used on the Nike Air Classic BW “Persian Violet”.
As the months passed, we saw the two new colorways drop separately as parts of two different packs (the Nike Air Max “Sunset” and “Beaches of Rio” packs), while the “Persian Violet” pair disappeared quietly into our memories. Today, we bring you a look at that pair, with hopes that this updated take on an OG Nike classic might eventually release this year.
Featuring the all-black upper with purple and white accents seen on its OG brother, the Nike Air Classic BW “Persian Violet”, the only difference between this pair and the original version is the usage of Engineered Mesh for the upper material. The shoes sit on a white/purple midsole, with a Max Air unit in the heel for added comfort; purple lining adds another pop of color, while a black outsole and black laces wrap things up. With this pair of kicks, Nike keeps all the good stuff we loved about the OG version, while giving it a slight update to add to the appearance and breathability of the shoes.
No word yet on a possible release date, but keep it locked with Sneaker Files, as we’ll be sure to update you with any news as soon as it becomes available. Hit the jump for some more pics, and let us know if you’d like to see these joints release this year in the comments below.
