In the early 2000s, Nike launched the Air Force 1 ‘West Indies’ to celebrate the West Indian Day Parade Carnival, an event that takes place annually on the first Monday of September in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
Going down the history of the shoes, four different colorways were released, paying tribute to the culture of the West Indies, taking place between 2002 to 2005. In 2022, we saw the OG pair from 2002 return to retailers to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the colorway and the 40th Anniversary of the Air Force 1.
The 2023 release of this Nike Air Force 1 Low will differ from the original; this time, it comes with Yellow accents. Utilizing White leather across the base and the same shade on the tongue and liner. Highlighting the shoes is a West Indies motif embroidered on the lateral side by the heels, and it lands on the tongue and lace dubraes. Finishing the look is a graphic on the insoles with all the small islands of the Caribbean.
