With the release of the ‘Freshwater’ and soon the ‘Varsity Royal’ colorways, Nike will pay tribute to Jackie Robinson with a special pair of the Air Griffey Max 1, dubbed ’42.’
Keeping things clean, this Nike Air Griffey Max 1 comes dressed in a Black and White color combination. The pair features Robinson’s quote that reads, ‘There’s not an American in this country free until every one of us is free,’ which is embossed on the ankle strap. Next, instead of Griffey Jr.’s 24, we now have Robinson’s 42 on the ankle and insoles. Finally, we have 3M reflective detailing and Black on the rubber outsole.
