Nike Sportswear will pay tribute to the city of Chicago by dropping the Nike Air Max 1 ’86 “Chicago” rendition.
The Nike Air Max 1 was originally released in 1987 and designed by Tinker Hatfield. However, a year prior, in 1986, we saw the Big Bubble iteration debut in limited quantities. For 2023, Nike decided to bring the shoes back, but this time around, they were a general release. Since the first drop for Air Max Day, we have seen various colorways release, and in October 2023, we have the “Chicago” iteration launching, part of a larger “Clerks Pack.”
Dressed in a White, Blue Chill, and Wolf Grey color combination. This Nike Air Max 1 pays tribute to the Windy City, and instead of dressed in the Bulls colors, the shades used are taken from the city’s flag. Highlighted with a grid pattern on the collar and the Chicago skyline on the tongue. Other details include 3M reflective accents, Sail midsoles with an air unit in the heels, and a Blue and Black rubber outsole.
