Nike Basketball’s retro line will revisit an older classic: the Air Max Uptempo. While the shoes will be celebrating their 30th Anniversary in 2025, the brand will revisit a pair worn by Derek Fisher in 2002 while playing for the Lakers: the “Lakers” Nike Air Max Uptempo.
In 2002, Derek Fisher wore two Lakers Air Max Uptempo colorways. One pair is mostly Purple, while the other is Yellow. The pair that comes in more Yellow, known as “Varsity Maize,” will return in 2025. We also saw the shoes return in 2019.
This classic Nike Air Max Uptempo features a White and Varsity Maize color scheme. It utilizes White leather on the upper with Yellow across the Swoosh, mudguard, heels, and within the Air Max unit. Although the official color description doesn’t mention Purple, we have the shade on the tongue and heel branding, around the Swooshes, and the one placed on the White midsole. Lastly, White adorns the rubber outsole, with Yellow on the pods.
