Finally we have some concrete info on the Nike Air Max Zero designed by Tinker Hatfield. Joined with a release date and retail price, we also have official images from the brand.
The Air Max line started back in 1987 with the Air Max 1. What was before it? Nothing actually, but according to Nike the Air Max Zero represents 29 years of innovation and was the beginning of the AM line. Thus making them the first shoe to be thought of.
Tinker and Nike would have several takes on designing the Air Max 1 and one of the concepts was actually the Zero. Not knowing it would come to light years later, the shoe was designed for maximum comfort and performance.
The Nike Sportswear design team started digging through the Department of Nike Archives when they came across the drawing. The team was looking for inspiration for a new shoe to celebrate the second annual Air Max Day.
Now with a second task, the team wanted to modernize the shoes for todays wear. This is where they swapped in Air Max 1 Ultra outsole and added a cored-out Phylon construction, fused uppers and monofilament yarn mesh to keep breathability alive.
The Nike Air Max Zero will release on Sunday, March 22nd 2015 and will cost you $150. Check out the detailed images below and let us know if you are grabbing a pair.
