Nike Sportswear is collaborating with London based The Basement on the Nike Dunk Low which will release this weekend.
Founded in December 2013, The Basement is a London-based collective connecting the city’s young creatives through inclusive online and offline platforms. Bonded by their passion for culture and community, its members, who come from a range of backgrounds, organize meet-ups using Facebook groups and local spaces.
Following a series of films titled “Real People Do Real Things,” which highlights nine members of The Basement, comes the reveal of the Nike Dunk Low BSMNT. The shoe, designed by member Daniel Pacitti combines nine materials, including canvas, corduroy, denim and leather, to reflect the diversity of the youth within and supported by The Basement.
Additional design details include a new BSMNT Swoosh logo on the tongue, foot bed and heel, as well as a reflective, embroidered mini swoosh on the lateral side of the toe. The Basement logo, a series of lines representing nine rungs of a ladder, is also reflective and embroidered on the lateral side of the heel.
All proceeds from the shoe will go toward the Youth Futures organization, which currently provides mentorship programming to London youth, in addition to space for meals and doing homework.
