The Houston Comets was established in 1997 and was one of the original eight WNBA teams. Leading the team were the big three of Sheryl Swoopes, Cynthia Cooper, and Tina Thompson, who was coached by Van Chancellor. What makes this team incredible is that they won the league’s first four championships. Paying tribute to the team and its four-peat, Nike Sportswear will release the Nike Dunk Low ‘Houston Comets Four-Peat’ alongside the Air Force 1 Low and Air Force 1 Mid.
The Nike Dunk Low featured boasts a color combination of Obsidian, White, University Red, and Wolf Grey. Crafted primarily from leather, the shoe also incorporates nylon tongues, a mesh liner, and toe box perforations for enhanced breathability. The base color is Obsidian, while the overlays and Swoosh are presented in White, with a Red outline accentuating the Swoosh. Notably, the lateral side showcases a four-finger logo, paying homage to the team’s remarkable four consecutive championships, with the years displayed on the heels. Additional details include a White midsole and an Obsidian rubber outsole, completing the overall design.
