For the first time, Nike Free’s flexibility and Nike Metcon’s durability collide in a new men’s training shoe, the Nike Free x Metcon.
The TPU-faced open mesh through the vamp is similar to chain mesh, so it’s light and breathable but also durable. The toe clip offers protection on the medial side during burpees, while the heel clip helps minimize drag during wall exercises such as handstand pushups. The triangle mid-foot rubber wrap and provides stability.
Laser-siped flex grooves in the forefoot maximize natural motion and forefoot flexibility for running and jumping, while minimal siping in the heel creates a stable platform for lifting.
The Black core that pops out through the tri-stars at the bottom is a softer-density foam that provides cushion underfoot, while the outer shell is a firmer-density foam that doesn’t compromise stability during lateral moves. Small laser dots on the outsole provide grip.
The Nike Free x Metcon training shoe is scheduled to release at select retailers including online at Nike.com on April 1st.
