Nike has officially unveiled the Nike KD 8 today. Two color schemes have been announced which we have already covered but the most important part is the technology and inspiration behind the shoes. Here is everything you need to know about the KD 8.

The biggest addition to the Nike KD 8 is the flyeweave technology added to the upper which uses the same design principles as woven textiles. Flyweave keeps your feet locked in while the material feels like a second skin which is also assisted by flywire cables in the forefoot.
The full-length Nike Zoom Air unit was specifically designed for the KD 8 that adds to responsive cushioning. Designed for Kevin Durant’s foot, thousands of high-strength fibers connect the top and bottom of this Zoom Air unit, which runs the foot’s entire length. Notches are the applied in the forefoot and heel to flex with the foot’s movement.
Dynamic traction is a modern take on herringbone traction. The design helps for quick cuts to the hoop and for those with dynamic footwork. For added support, an adaptive heel counter is added which is inspired by the sabertooth tiger.
Nike KD 8 Inspiration
A sabertooth tiger was the inspiration behind the KD 8. For true fans of Durant, they already know that he has a sabertooth tattoo above his right ankle. The way the heel comes up from the midsole is to resemble the cats fangs. As well, it allows for your foot to stay locked in.
Nike KD 8 Colors
So far we have two color schemes lined up to release. We have the ‘V-8’ and ‘USA’. The V-8 is inspired by Durant’s custom Camaro he had done back in 2010. The USA takes on a 4th of July theme and is said to be one of Kevin’s favorite holidays while spending time with his family.
