For Kevin Durant, nothing beats a good ol’ peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Although it looks good enough to eat, we highly recommend you do not eat the Nike KD VI (6) “Peanut Butter & Jelly” when it releases this weekend. Check out it’s official unveiling below and hear what KD himself has to say about this shoe’s significance.
As a kid growing up in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, Kevin Durant loved peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Whether on the rec center floor as an after school snack or at his Aunt Pearl’s house, the sandwiches were made with love from his grandma, aunt or mom.
Representing his carefree days as a kid, the KD VI PB&J continues the hometown storytelling that kicked off as KD joined with his community to launch his sixth Nike signature shoe in June.
“I’d spend hours with my Aunt Pearl as a kid just listening to her advice and eating her PB&J sandwiches,” said Durant. “Great memories.”
For the first time in Nike’s history, a food-themed Swoosh comes alive on the shoe’s upper with a jelly-like look. Peanut-gold and maroon are featured on the upper and outsole.
The KD VI Peanut Butter & Jelly launches in limited quantities on Oct. 19 at select retail locations and Nike.com.
