Nike Basketball has just unveiled the Kobe 11 and the first pair to release is the Nike Kobe 11 ‘Achilles Heel’ set to release in early January 2016.
To the naked eye, the Kobe 11 looks to be much like previous models, however the change comes from the materials used. Nike has implemented pearlescent fibers which are thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) threads. Essentially this is a stronger Flyknit material.
Inspiration behind the Achilles Heel comes from Bryant’s surgery he had back in 2013 and the Greek God Achilles. Using a university red, metallic gold and black theme, one of the heels will have four red lines for his injury while the other has a graphic that represents the Greek God.
Nike Kobe 11 Achilles Heel Release Date
The ‘Achilles Heel’ Nike Kobe 11 will release on January 9th, 2016 which confirms our previous release date. Rumor was that with Kobe retiring after this season, Nike would debut the Kobe 11 sooner so he would have more time on the court with them. Retail price will be $200 and more images can be seen below.
As you know, the Kobe 11 will be the last model he wears on court, so we ask you do you think the design is a proper farewell to one of the greatest to play the game? Let us know what you think.
