If Kyrie Irving took the floor on opening night, he would have worn the Nike Kyrie 1 ‘Double Nickel’ which is also apart of the ‘Opening Night’ collection featuring other Nike Basketball athletes.
With Kyrie Irving battling an injury that took him out during the playoffs last season, Nike will still pay tribute to by releasing an opening night sneaker for the Cleveland Cavaliers point guard.
Not only does this Kyrie 1 pay tribute to the beginning of the 2015-16 NBA season, but a flash back to when Irving scored 55 points (known as a double nickel) against the Portland Trailblazers back in January.
The ‘Double Nickel’ Nike Kyrie 1 features a white base along with silver accents across the heel counter and within the midsole and red landing on the swoosh and Kyrie logo on the insole. Following is his number 2 placed on the heel, except they are flipped upside down. This is to resemble the number 55 when placed together.
