Nike has officially unveiled the upcoming Nike LunarGlide+ 4.
This summer when the greatest athletes in the world compete for career defining victories, runners everywhere can hit the street and log miles with the same technologies these athletes use to reach their peak. These innovations live in the all-new fourth generation of the Nike LunarGlide+, featuring reinvented Flywire technology and the innovative Dynamic Support cushioning system.
Whether at record breaking speeds or on a long run, fit is paramount. Sprinters and middle distance runners in London will race in the Nike Zoom Superfly R4 and Nike Zoom Victory Elite, respectively, both with revolutionary Nike Flywire – a technology also utilized in the Nike LunarGlide+ 4. The dynamic cables move with the foot, offering support while minimizing weight and bulk. And since it wraps under the arch and loops into the laces, Flywire technology is customizable for a glove-like fit that helps eliminate the gaps of a traditional upper.

The new LunarGlide+ 4 is really the best of both worlds. You’ve got amazing fit and support on an unbelievable ride with the super responsive Lunarlon cushioning.
-Rob Williams, Sr. Footwear Designer for Nike Running
In the midsole, Lunarlon foam stars in the Dynamic Support platform and provides super plush, responsive cushioning through the miles. Lunarlon – the result of collaboration between Nike designers and the Nike Sports Research Lab – was first introduced on the global stage four years ago as the midsole cushioning system in the Nike LunaRacer+ and Nike LunarTrainer+ running shoes.
The LunarGlide+ 4’s Dynamic Support system is a two-part midsole developed to provide superior stability, comfort and cushioning. Opposing wedges of foam (Lunarlon and firmer carrier foam) move the runner from soft to stable as the heel lands and the foot flexes down. The innovative system provides a gradual transition and a smooth ride for a variety of gaits.
The shoe’s designers focused on fit, support and stability in the upper as well. The floating heel clip has become a staple of the features. Attached to the firmer foam carrier, the clip moves with the foot to help with the heel rolling inward or outward.
Large expanses of single-layer engineered mesh provide ventilation and support where runners need it and give the shoe a purposefully smooth look. Designers also obsessed over style, and the sleek look of the LunarGlide+ 4 helps ensure a long run looks good, too.
The Nike LunarGlide+ 4 is part of the Nike Lunarlon Collection: a range of men’s and women’s performance shoes that includes the Nike LunarGlide+ 4 (running), Nike Hyperdunk (basketball), Nike LunarTR1 and Nike Lunar HyperWorkout+ (training).
Since this new version is also Nike+ enabled, runners will be able to track, compare and share their runs through nikeplus.com, the world’s largest running community with more than 6 million members.
Beat the Elite with NIKEiDÂ
Beginning June 12 – before the Nike LunarGlide+ 4 is available in stores – NIKEiD is challenging runners to beat elite athletes like Allyson Felix (world champion US sprinter), Mo Farah (world champion UK distance runner) and Serena Williams (US champion tennis player) in a shoe design battle.
Working with all the great tools available on NIKEiD, including the exclusive fade effect and reflective inner-sleeve, their designs celebrate athletes’ greatest moments and passions. Now consumers have the chance to design their own shoes and compete head to head with them.
Felix was inspired by her achievement in 2003 when she ran the fastest 200m ever for a high school athlete (22:11). Farah discovered his talent for running as a kid playing football so he designed a shoe inspired by his favorite team. Williams shows her passion for her hometown with orange and green.
To know more about the design challenge go to NIKEiD.
The Nike LunarGlide+ 4 will be available for purchase on NIKEiD from June 19 and inline colors will be in stores June 29.
