Named for the insect with a typical lifespan lasting only 30 minutes to 24 hours, the original Nike Mayfly was produced as an inexpensive, minimalist, lightweight runner (clocking in at only 4.8 ounces) intended to last only 100 km (62 miles). Now, however, Nike Sportswear is introducing a more luxurious version for Spring 2012.
Appearing in a “Fresh Mint” colorway, this updated Mayfly retains the Phylite cushioning of its predecessor, but sports a premium suede upper with tan leather lining instead of the usual ripstop nylon.
The “Fresh Mint” Mayfly will drop at select NSW retailers later this year.
