One of the biggest crossFit events is the Reebok CrossFit Games, and since Reebok and CrossFit have an official partnership, Nike and the popular Metcon 1 are not allowed at any functions. This has lead the brand to take an Air Jordan 1 approach, which gives us the Nike Metcon 1 Banned.
Taken from Nike:
“During the biggest event in the world of high-intensity training, our athletes have been banned from wearing the Metcon 1. This colorway pays homage to Nike’s first outlawed shoe, the Air Jordan 1, and it’s designed to stand strong in any competition—whether it’s allowed or not.
For high intensity workouts you need durable support for lifting, jumping, running and cutting movements. The Nike MetCon 1 Men’s Training Shoe is strategically designed to withstand the demands of cross training while keeping you moving at full speed. Made to deliver the versatility and performance features that modern athleticism demands, this training shoe combines a dual-density midsole, flex grooves and tough abrasion-resistant mesh.”
Using a black, varsity red and white theme with the color blocking resembling that of the Banned Air Jordan 1. The tagline of the shoes “Don’t Ban Our Shoe. Beat Our Shoe.” is a direct shot at Reebok.
If you want to scoop the ‘Banned’ Nike Metcon 1, they will be available on July 16th, 2015 and will retail for $130. Check out additional images below.
