It has been a great 35 years for Onitsuka Tiger. One of the most famous revised series is planning to make a comeback in a very limited amount at select retailers on July 1st. The California 78 model, which was the first model to sport a reflective material on the heel; back then, jogging in Japan was incredibly popular.
Onitsuka Tiger will release 1,978 pairs of this limited yellow and blue California 78. The number of pairs releasing is referenced toward the date when the California was first released, which was 1978. Dressed up in an intoxicating yellow around the upper and yellow suede at the toe, the California 78 also accents light blue around the signature lining, mid-sole, laces, and heel. Of course you can’t forget about the famous heel reflector.
The California 78 will feature a “1 of 1,978” tag on the back of the tongue to signify the limited supply. So mark your calendars, for this release is taking place on July 1st at select Onitsuka Tiger shops. What do all of you sneaker-heads think about this anniversary sneaker?
