Player exclusive models are among the most sought after sneakers in our diverse culture. This is never more evident than now, in ’08, as behemoths Footlocker and Nike have collaborated to create the House of Hoops. If you haven’t heard, the jewels of the HOH Nile are the exclusive NBA samples that frequent the shelves. And there’s no denying it–whether it is the Jason Kidd Zoom BB Mid or the Deron Williams Huarache 2008, the Swoosh has brought some flavors, much to the delight of sneakerheads looking for select heat.
Â
And I can’t deny it either–I’m the type of dude that likes to shock and excite my shoe loving peers with extraterrestrial flavor from other area codes. I feel blessed to wear the same size (or near that) as many of my favorite NBA ballplayers. And in that way, I was able to snipe this pair of adidas a3 Forums done up for Sebastian Telfair, my first pair of player samples. This was nearly two years ago.
Â
Featuring a multilayered mesh inner and Lycra based tongue top, the shoe is extraordinarily cozy, and can be worn with no-show socks when cold lampin’ or ankle-highs for a more traditional asphalt/hardwood setting. The patent ankle strap ensures a snug fit and limited movement without being overly confining. (Is it just me, or does this pair balance patent and leather perfectly?) The shoe also implements Adis once heralded a3 Structure cushioning in the heel along with adiPRENE+ in the forefoot. Sans the technical speak, these are just comfortable! My only complaint is that they are a bit weighty overall, and a stint on Slim Fast might make the Forums a bit more accommodating for everyone.
