It’s been 30 long years since Reebok debuted the Reebok Classic Leather, and to commemorate its 30th birthday, Reebok has teamed up with several boutiques, giving them a chance to help design their own take on the classic silhouette. We’ve seen versions from Packer Shoes in Boston (the dope “Aztec” Classic Leather Lux), Frank the Butcher, and his “BAU” version, and my personal favorite, the Burn Rubber Classic Leather Lux “Spirit of Detroit”, all of which released earlier this year.
The newest fruit of this collaboration is the Solebox x Reebok Classic Leather Lux “Sturnella Militaris”. Solebox, a Berlin-based boutique known for its amazing collaborations with various sneaker companies (in particular, their work with Saucony, like the upcoming “The Lucanid” Shadow 5000, seen here), takes a stab at revamping the Classic Leather, using the Sturnella Militaris, aka Red-breasted Blackbird, as inspiration. Keeping in line with the other recent releases by using premium materials, the “Sturnella Militaris” features an upper which alternates between a lush red suede and black, oiled leather, which sits atop a white midsole and black outsole. Solebox chose to finish off the shoes with a terrycloth material for the lining and a pair of both black and red waxed-cotton laces, while stamping their name in a 3M material on the heel tab of the shoe.
A truly masterful creation, this shoe is set to release tomorrow at selected retailers, but keep in mind that many of those retailers are on international time, so set your online plans to cop accordingly. Will you be looking to cop a pair of these this weekend? Have your sights set on something else?
