Nike’s We Run series for 2012 recently made a stop in Budapest.
Eleven thousand runners took part in the Nike Budapest half-marathon on Sunday, September 9. This year the race offered the opportunity to complete the 21.1K distance solo or in teams of two or three. A new “Cheer me on” Facebook application also enabled runners to get support and motivation from their friends via messages on LED displays along the race route.
London kayaking gold medalists Danuta Kozák and Gabriella Szabó and silver-medalist Zoltán Kammerer also laced up and ran with the crowds through central Budapest.
We Run Budapest is part of Nike’s We Run race series, which aims to inspire, support and connect runners around the world. The events are forging a new global community of athletes who will participate in Nike’s most connected race series with innovative Nike+ technology.
The newly re-engineered Nike+ Running experience, which motivates runners with insightful and inspirational new features and products, has broadened access to the Nike+ community, now at approximately 7 million members. On-going run clubs offer training sessions with coaching tips, competitive challenges, and advice on everything runners need to get them to race day: product trials, gait analysis and more.
