The Air Jordan 4 “Fire Red” stands out as one of the more popular Chicago Bulls-based colorways to be seen on a Jordan shoe according to most collectors. Dating back to its original release in November of 1989, Michael Jordan first took flight in the iconic sneaker during professional play as a young Bull against some of basketball’s greatest like Earvin “Magic” Johnson.
Though Michael wasn’t seen very often in this colorway while on the court, the shoe itself did gain notoriety over the years given its OG design and significance in popular culture. While most retro versions of the Air Jordan IV display the Jumpman logo on the back heel, the original Air Jordan 4 “Fire Red” showed the famous “Nike Air” symbol and came with a newly introduced Nike Air plastic hang tag. Not to mention, the original model paved the way for future iterations of the shoe such as the “Laser” 4’s and the “Mars” or Mars Blackmans that released back in 2005 and 2006, respectively.
For those who may not have had the opportunity to own a piece of history with the original model, there’s good news because the Air Jordan 4 “Fire Red” returns once again this Saturday, August 4th at a retail price of $160 at most Jordan Brand accounts.
