Now available at Foot Locker is Cam Newton’s signature Under Armour Cam Highlight Trainer.
Since entering the NFL, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has taken the league by storm with a innovative style of play on the field, that now for the first time has been translated into his first ever signature sneaker which dropped over the weekend; the Under Armour Cam Highlight Trainer. On the field, Cam is redefining the way the quarterback position is being played with his tight-end size and his wide receiver speed that gives defensive’s fits. When Under Armour designer Dave Dombrow sat down with Cam to design his training shoe, their goal was to develop a “quick, durable and stylish” shoe that could handle all of the characteristics of his unique abilities that delivered versatility both in style and performance, thus the Cam Highlight Trainer was born.
First lets take a look at the style of the shoe. The style inspiration was actually drawn from a Ferrari. The carbon and diamond-like pattern on the trainer were made to imitate the outside and interior of a Ferrari and Bugatti. The suede vamp on the forefront of the shoe is inspired by the seats of the Ferrari. One of the key performance elements is the CompFit ankle sleeve, which is how support meets mobility. While being extremely supportive, it gives the flexibility needed to make those hard cuts. Next is the TPU wing in the shoe. The TPU wing locks you laterally while cutting left and right. Finally, the integrated sockliner allows your foot to be lower to the ground, which results in more stable movement but it does not sacrifice comfort.
The Under Armour Cam Highlight Trainer is now available in stores and online in two colorways; Carolina Blue/Black and Red/Black. The shoe retails for $150 and is also available in kids sizes as well. Check out the photos below and let us know if you what you think and if you’ll be picking up a pair.
